We had a fabulously fun week in PreK with Ms. F learning how to write her letter “Ff” and sound. We learned about what makes Ms. F special along with listing 52 words beginning with her letter. This week, we also discussed the world as our community – our conversations revolved around what makes us the same and different as other children our age in different parts of the world. Mrs. Hill from the 4th Grade gave us a fantastic presentation about Japan where she spent many years learning about their culture – we learned a few new words, a Japanese song and got to see many interesting possessions that Mrs. Hill acquired while studying in Japan. We practiced with chopsticks and kept cool with the decorative hand fans! Thank you to Mrs. Hill!
In Math, we are working on measurements. The students measured their shoe with cubes, paper clips and pencils to continue with the concept of using different tools for measuring. This week our WOW words were: greet, global, fancy, fabulous, and diversity. For the last week of our Community Theme, we had our grand finale of Community Helper Dress-Up Day on Friday. We had some great community helpers – nurses, doctors, veterinarian, policemen, a zoo keeper and a construction worker …. it was a fun day! We visited our 3rd Grade Buddies on Friday and shared a book, popcorn and a few Fall songs.
Thank you to everyone that sent in a fun snack for the last day before Thanksgiving break! In addition, my appreciation for your patience on Friday with the early release due to the prolonged power outage – it made for an exciting Friday afternoon! We left the rest towels here as the students backpacks were filled to the top – we will send them home at the end of next week.
Parent/Teacher Conferences were held today – I enjoyed meeting all the parents. Again, thank you for sharing your children with us at Christ the King! Have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving!
Next week: We will start a new unit on Health and Nutrition. We will meet Mr. O and learn about his letter and sound. Don’t forget Manners Day on Friday, November 30th (wear something nice and neat!) and Scholastic Book Orders will be due on Monday, December 3rd (our classroom code is TKCGW).
