A Colossal Week in Pre-K

Mr. C showed the classroom his colossal cap along with the hidden letter and sound. We found a chart full of “Cc” words and just like the letter “Oo”, we had fun practicing both of their letter formation. We continue our theme of Health and Nutrition this week by talking about what food is good for us. We learned about Go, Slow and Whoa foods – food which are great for our bodies that we can GO eat and enjoy; foods which we need to be SLOW and think twice before we eat too much; and foods which we need to tell ourselves WHOA as they are not healthy for our bodies. Our WOW words (right in line with our theme this week) consisted of: tasty, colossal, nibble, energetic and gobble. In Math, we worked on grouping numbers 1-5 … ask your child about a frame of five!

On Monday, we lit our first candle on the classroom Advent wreath and the students “lit” the first candle on their own Advent wreath. It is a beautiful time for our classroom as we anticipate the birth of Jesus – we talk about His arrival and the kind acts Jesus performed throughout His life. Our tree of kindness in the classroom is ready for “ornaments” of kindness from your children … just write down kind things your child has done, send them in with your child in their yellow folder and we will make a bulb for the tree. Also this week, St. Nick came to visit the classroom on Thursday after we left our shoes we made for him to fill on Wednesday. We made a St. Nick craft, colored a picture of St. Nick, and we learned more about the wonderful and kind acts he did for others. Thank you, St. Nicholas!

Next Week: We will meet Ms. E and we will be EXERCISING this week … exercise energy! We will continue to learn about counting groups and preparing our hearts for the arrival of Jesus on Christmas Day!

SPECIAL NOTE: Please send in a spare pair of pants for your child’s reserve clothing bag. Many students have summer shorts in their reserve bag which can no longer be worn after October 15th according to the school dress code – we will send any shorts home!
