Thank you so much for coming out to Back to School night! It was great to see all of you. I am thrilled for this school year.
What a great week in second grade! This second grade class is amazing! They are so very talented and are ready to learn. We spent much of the week working on routine and procedures to make this year successful. We will continue this practice through the next week as it is only a three day week.
We had many “firsts” this week. The children had their first spelling test over the short vowel sounds of a and i. Please remember that if your child does not come home with a corrected pretest on Wednesday, they do not have to take the spelling test on Friday.
The students completed their first piece of writing focusing on something they know all about: their classroom. These pieces of writing will be hanging in the great hall. The students are so proud of their writing as we focused on description in this piece.
The students are now responsible for completing a math fact page for homework along with their regular problem solving homework sheet. Please practice math facts with your child every night. It will certainly help make math so much easier for him or her in the future. This week we will have our first math fact test over the “doubles” and our first problem solving test as well.
There is no spelling list or test this week as it is such a short week. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email me. Have a great weekend!
