Middle School Science Week of 9/23

Hello! Hope everyone is having a great week so far- sorry for the late post!

6th- On Monday, we completed Speed, Velocity, and Acceleration stations to reinforce our knowledge about how speed, velocity, and acceleration work and are related. Tuesday, we looked at speed vs time graphs, and worked on workbook pages 17-19. If they were not finished in class, they are homework and are due Wednesday. On Wednesday we are completing our study guide for the test and reviewing the answers together at the end of class. On Thursday, we will take a practice test to help us prepare, and on Friday we have our Chapter 1 test.

7th- On Monday, we completed stations about Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion to reinforce what we’ve learned about motion. On Tuesday we went over the answers to the study guide and started our practice tests, which are due Wednesday.  I also gave them a list of terms and ideas specifically to study from. During class on Wednesday we will review the answers to the practice test and answer any last minute questions about test material. The Chapter 1 test will be on Thursday, and on Friday we will start our discussion about different types of energy with some in-class examples.

8th- On Monday, we reviewed important terms and concepts from Lessons 1 and 2 of Chapter 1, and on Tuesday we reviewed Lessons 3 and 4. They were also given a list of important terms and ideas specifically to study from. For homework, they were given a practice test (which should not take them more than 40 minutes to complete). In class on Wednesday we will review the answers to the practice test and answer any last questions about the material for the Chapter 1 test on Thursday. Friday, we will begin Chapter 2 by looking at the history of the scientific understanding of the atom.

If anyone has any questions about the test or how we’ve been preparing for it as a class, I’d be happy to answer them!

Happy Fall!
