Happy Labor Day! I hope you all are enjoying the long weekend with family! I am looking forward to seeing all the students on Tuesday!

This week will be the first time this year the children will visit the church for Adoration. The whole school takes part in Adoration on the first Friday of every month. Please feel free to join us!

The second graders will begin their preparation to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation soon. There will be an information letter listing all the meeting dates coming home with your child on Tuesday.

Our story this week is My Family. We will focus on the short vowels o,u, and e, along with continuing to review cvc words in phonics. We will decide whether a sentence is a simple sentence or a run-on sentence in grammar and look at word order in sentences as well. We will learn how to identify and use a glossary in a book, and continue to review subjects and predicates. In math we will continue to work on addition facts to 20, and work on identifying geometric figures. We will also continue to work on classroom routine. I am hoping that all center rotations will be fluid by the end of the week so we can focus completely on guided reading. The children learned about reading to self, reading with a buddy, listening to reading, and began to learn about working with words. They are a wonderful group of children!

If you have any questions, please call or email me! Have a great week!
