Week of January 7th

Happy New Year! It was wonderful to be back together this week! We all enjoyed hearing about each other’s adventures over the break. It sounds like everyone had a great time together!

We eased back into our routines this week. We enjoyed reading a Cherokee legend, learning how a new chief was chosen to lead the tribe. We brainstormed qualities of a good leader—kind, brave, helpful, smart—and noticed those same qualities in ourselves and the friends in our class. In math, we continued our study of fractions, comparing fractions with different denominators. We continued practicing our facts and flexibility with skip-counting, getting ready to start our study of multiplication next week!

Next week we will begin the second round of NWEA testing. These assessments provide individual data on areas of growth and skills that need to be reinforced. We will take the reading and language arts sections next week. The following week we will take the math portion of the test.

Catholic Schools week is at the end of the month. We’ll be preparing and planning many ways to celebrate. Look for more information coming home in your child’s folder next week.

Enjoy the snow!
