Welcome Back To School

I am so blessed to be teaching at CKS, you have wonderful children which makes my job such a joy. Thank you for entrusting me with your little ones!

We are off to a great start this year. We are learning how to function in a school setting. Walking in a line, using the big bathroom, eating in the lunch room, and working hard are all things we have been working on this school year. We will transition from talking about school rules to how to be a good friend these next couple of weeks.

We have reviewed our shapes and colors and most of us have these mastered. In the next week or so I will individually test the kiddos on letter names and sounds just to get a base line where we are at now so that we can see growth over the school year.

We have been working on sorting. The children have been very creative with how they sort the class. We have sorted by hair color, eye color, shorts/pants, and boy/girl. This is a simple concept that we have all mastered so we have moved on to patterning. We have done a simple AB pattern so far but will move to more difficult patterns in the next couple of weeks.

Next week we will begin learning our first letter officially. We will begin with the letter Nn.

Enjoy your very long Labor Day Weekend!
